Balmoral press release
Added: 02 Apr 2013
SAMTEQ, the fast-growing web and touch-screen solutions company based in Dunoon, Argyll, has developed interactive Touch Genius kiosks for Balmoral Castle and Estate, the royal family’s summer residence.
The fully-branded kiosks, which will be on display in the castle when it opens this Easter, will enhance the visitor experience.Using a simple, intuitive touch-screen, visitors can find out more about Balmoral and the royal family in a fun, interactive way. They can also send an email postcard to friends and family and fill in a digital survey about their experience. The survey is short and simple, asking, for example, visitors to rate their experience using a range of ‘smileys’. It’s also available in a range of languages to cater for Balmoral’s international clientele.
SAMTEQ’s Sam Coley said: ‘We’re delighted to be working with Balmoral. It’s a fantastic place to visit and the staff members are genuinely passionate about what they do. We hope that our Touch Genius solution will enhance what’s already an exceptional visitor experience and encourage even more people to visit this great visitor attraction.’
He continued: ‘Email postcards and digital surveys are a great way for businesses to learn more about their customers. The kiosks also provide a powerful but easy-to-use reporting and management system, so staff at Balmoral can constantly monitor usage, analyse survey results and collect and manage data.’
Touch Genius was developed and launched by SAMTEQ in 2012. You’ll see the kiosks popping up in visitor attractions and venues across the UK. Sam is keen to stress that although Touch Genius involves complex technology, the user experience is anything but complex. ‘We take complicated stuff and make it easy for the user – a bit like the iPhone,’ he said.

We’ve teamed up with Eve MacFarlane, a freelance copywriter, who has over 13 years’ experience in the business. She can help you get the most out of your website by providing succinct, unique text that speaks to both your human and search engine audiences.
She rewrote the text for our website, and the value of a professional copywriter very quickly became apparent. It’s made a huge difference - even Google likes it more. You can see more of Eve’s work on her website www.westcoasting.co.uk. If you’d like some advice on the content of your website, or would like the content rewritten, then get in touch with Eve at email@example.com or call the SAMTEQ office on 01369 702253.

Directors go to Jail
Added: 09 Sep 2011
Well, pleasingly it was a voluntary trip to one of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions, Inveraray Jail.
We were there to install a kiosk to add to the attraction. The kiosk has more than one function. Firstly it allows visitors to search the prison records using the latest touch-screen technology. In a fun and easy way, they can search names, ages or use the preset search buttons such as ’strange crimes’ or ’transported to Australia’.
The kiosk has some real benefits for the jail as well as the visitor. Visitors can send a post card - a well-presented e-card - to a recipient, which allows the sender to enter a prize draw if they give the jail their email address (all used ethically). The other function is for visitors to complete a very easy to do survey. The survey is measured using clear smiley (or less smiley) icons. This gets a better return of surveys and offers real-time satisfaction measurement for the management. It also offers email collection. All this is backed up with a backend reporting consol and mailing management system.
